Although Chris Morphet was (luckily) again present to preserve the moments, the sessions at IBC Studios on 19th January 1970 apparently were not the definitive recording sessions for "The Seeker." Indeed, while Morphet's photos document Kit's presence for this session, Pete Townshend wrote in Rolling Stone in 1971 that: "We did it once at my home studio, then at IBC where we normally worked then with Kit Lambert producing. Then Kit had a tooth pulled, breaking his jaw, and we did it ourselves." Pete added that he preferred his own rendition, as first recorded on "Happy Birthday," to The Who's. "The Seeker" didn't make much of an impact in the charts, but its greatest legacy may be its impact on budding musicians of the time.
