Check out our new interactive map of 1960s London studios that has was added to the site today.
Using known session dates, we've plotted the various studios The Who used during its first years of recording efforts. Some of these studios are long gone; others, like Abbey Road, live on today as much a tourist site as a working recording studio.
There's not much public info available on the dearly departed studios, and seemingly few photos. But what's here hopefully will give you a general idea of the facilities the band patronised trying to get its work on disc and in the listener's ears. Of course, this isn't even all of the studios in the city at the time.
It's a work in progress, so please bear with us as we try to improve it. One of the biggest problems with projects like this is getting the technology to work consistently on everyone's browser. Not surprisingly, your mileage may vary. But let us know if you're experiencing massive problems and we'll do our best to work with them.
As always, if you have suggestions, comments or corrections, please be sure to click the email icon on the home page or fill out the contact form to notify Benn directly. We appreciate your input.
Stay tuned for more great Who content coming soon...
